Morgan Ashurst has won a £9m leisure centre deal in Matlock from Derbyshire Dales District Council.
The contract involves the detailed design and construction of the Central Area Leisure Centre as a new sport, leisure and tourist attraction for the wider Peak District.
Features of the centre will include: Lobby, Foyer and Reception, Cafe, Centre Management Offices, IT Server Room, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Changing Facilities, and Swimming Pools.
External facilities include vehicle access and car parking, which will require landscaping works.
The contract will also involve the remediation of the proposed site, known as The Dimple, a large brownfield area 1.5 miles north west of Matlock.
The centre will aim to deliver industry leading standards for energy efficiency achieving BREEAM rating ‘Very Good’.
Morgan Ashurst was one of five contractors who pitched for the job.
Work on site began earlier this month.
