Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council has picked Sir Robert McAlpine to tackle the construction of a new town hall.
The new municipal offices in Rochdale town centre have been procured by way of a two stage, design and build process. During the first stage, McAlpine will carry out pre-construction services working with the council and its architect.
The contract is valued at between £45m and £55m.
The construction phase is expected to run for 28 months.
