Building on its strong track record in the rail sector, leading access and scaffolding supplier, SGB has pooled its existing expertise to operate as one specialist team, tailored to meet the specific requirements of the industry. Led by director Rob Owen, the new team is staffed by a dedicated team of designers, engineers, business development and operations personnel all of whom are fully qualified and experienced in the rail sector.
SGB Rail Services represents an access industry counterpart to the specialist rail divisions now emerging from the UK’s leading building and civil engineering contractors.
“With rail being one sector that is forecast to remain buoyant for the foreseeable future, we have decided to establish our position as the first-choice supplier of access solutions for rail contractors”, commented Mr Owen.
“In order to support these contractors we believe it makes perfect sense to offer our customers a team of specialists who can focus on the sector in a dedicated way. It’s about being recognised by the main contractors’ specialist divisions as their opposite number in the supply chain”, added Mr Owen.
SGB Rail Services has the use of the full range of SGB access products and services throughout the UK. “Wherever the work is located, there will be a dedicated resource plus additional manpower and services that we utilise as required. Materials and labour are mobilised from the closest Project Services branch”, explained Mr Owen.
Setting it apart from its competitors, SGB is a multi-disciplinary organisation, active in all fields of access from traditional and system scaffolding, through mobile powered access to Mastclimbers™, temporary roof systems and ancillary equipment such as edge protection and scaffold sheeting.
SGB Rail Services is registered under the Link-Up Qualification Scheme, which is designed to assure the quality of goods and services brought to the rail industry and to ensure total compliance with rail industry standards. This includes Personal Track Safety qualifications for workers deployed on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure work. SGB currently sponsors approximately 200 staff, management and scaffolders who are PTS qualified.
