Sellar plans three more towers next to Shard

Sellar Property is to submit plans for the construction of three smaller towers alongside the Shard at London Bridge.

The application for the Three Houses development at 310 St Thomas Street, dubbed 'The Shardettes', was expected a year ago but has been revised following discussions with local stakeholders, reports Estates Gazette.

Peter John, leader of Labour-led Southwark council, said Sellar had agreed to reduce the height of one of the towers because of its effect on Snowsfields and Bermondsey Street. The plans are likely to be submitted this week, he said.

The 600,000 sq ft Shardettes will feature 370 homes, a hotel, shops and a cinema in three towers.

Sellar, which is also behind the 'Baby Shard' tower at London Bridge Place, is scheduled to complete the main 1,000ft Shard tower in May 2012.
