Demolition work has been completed on the Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station site, as the timelapse video below shows.
The footage, taken from a camera on Centre Point, shows the demolition of 157-167 Charing Cross Road, including the famous Astoria music venue, plus 9-15 Oxford Street and 1-6 Falconberg Court.
The demolition contractor was McGee Group.
Now that the site has been cleared, construction of a temporary EDF substation is underway, along with work to replace, divert and strengthen the cables and utility pipes in and around the site.
When the utilities work is completed, piling work will begin around Falconberg Court. Piling has already begun on the shaft for the Northern Line escalators.
