Demolition work has begun on a Gateshead multi-storey car park made famous by the 1970s Michael Caine film Get Carter.
Local firm Thompsons of Prudhoe is the demolition contractor charged with bringing down the structure. It is using a Komatsu 750 super high-reach 360-degree excavator and a Caterpillar 350 high-reach machine.
The demolition represents the first element in a £150m Tesco-led regeneration of Trinity Square in Gateshead.
