A-Plant acquired Fairview Lifting Gear (FLG) in December and has rebranded it as FLG Services, a standalone company within the group.

FLG was set up in Rainham, Essex, by Fairview Crane Hire in 2002. The crane hire business closed down in 2012.

Mr Longmire worked at Speedy Hire for 10 years, latterly as commercial director and in other senior leadership roles. Before that he was technical director at Lifting Gear Hire for eight years. Most recently he was with Balfour Beatty as senior authorising engineer in charge of setting policy and standards in relation to lifting operations.

He also serves on the executive board and technical committee of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).

At FLG Services his role includes developing and extending the service centre network, training and developing personnel, liaising with suppliers and identifying new product ranges, and generally promoting technical excellence.

“I am delighted to have joined FLG Services at such an exciting time after the acquisition,” he said. “I worked very closely with Jeff Hudson, director of FLG Services, during my time with Lifting Gear Hire so it is great to be able to work together once more. With the corporate backing from A-Plant, I am looking forward to helping drive the business forward.”
