It is the hire company’s largest ever single order with Kubota and most of the machines have now been delivered to depots around the country.

The Kubota order comprises 800kg micro models, 1.5-tonne minis and tracked excavators ranging from 2.5 tonnes up to 8.0 tonnes. Several are new machines to the A-Plant fleet, including the 8.0 tonne KX080-4 machine which is powered by a new Stage IIIB compliant direct injection diesel engine and comes with ROPS and FOPS.

Also new to the A-Plant fleet is the 6.0 tonne U55-4 light tailswing compact excavator and the 3.0 tonne U27-4 zero tailswing compact excavator, the latter of which is towable.

A-Plant marketing director Asif Latief said: “This is the largest order we have ever placed with Kubota UK in all our years of trading and it reflects their excellent build quality, innovative features and operator confidence in the machines. In fact, these machines are amongst the fastest moving items we have and, with the new fleet on board, we are even better equipped to meet the needs of all our customers from national accounts to local and regional players.”

All of the new machines come with the Kubota anti-theft system. The one-key system incorporates a chip that only lets the engine start when the system recognises the appropriate key. Only programmed keys will enable the engine to start and even identically shaped keys can’t start the engine unless they are programmed. Attempting to start the engine with an un-programmed key activates the system’s alarm. The Kubota anti-theft system works in conjunction with A-Plant’s A-Trak tracking elements and security system which allows customers to monitor their hired plant online 24/7 through the A-Plant Extranet system.
