Acquisition of the Hodgins Smith Partnership

7 Jul 10 Manchester based Consulting Engineers Clancy Consulting announced this week the acquisition of the Scottish civil and structural engineering consultants Hodgins Smith Partnership.

The amalgamation forms one of the UK’s strongest medium sized privately owned and managed multi disciplinary Engineering Consultants advising the Property and Construction sector. The move extends Clancy’s office network into the Scottish market with the addition of bases in Prestwick and Glasgow, resulting in the company now having a presence in nine locations across the UK.

Chief Executive Alan Bramwell commented that there is excellent synergy in bringing Hodgins Smith on-board with the two Companies sharing many similarities, not least of which are the many years over which both have built an excellent reputation in the market and developed a highly talented and loyal workforce. This also represents the successful achievement of one of the Director’s principal strategic objectives as we continue to grow and develop the business.

Hodgins Smith Partnership was established in Scotland over 22 years ago by Reg Hodgins and Ron Smith whom were later joined by John Mitchell and Neil Orrock. Ron, John and Neil have been appointed as Divisional Directors of Clancy Consulting with Reg becoming a Director. All will continue to be responsible along with their present team for the day-to-day management of the Scottish offices and workload.

This development will enable current work in Scotland to be even better serviced both for existing Clancy clients who will have access to more locally based staff and for Hodgins Smith clients who will have the greater resources and multi-disciplines of the extended company at their disposal.
