Administrators called in at Kent contractor

The company, which was established in 1946, has its head office and joinery workshops in Canterbury. There are also additional regional offices, based in Sandwich in Kent and Heathrow, which were initially set up to provide specific construction services for two major clients but developed further.

Cardy Construction’s main activity covers general building and construction; it also carries out repairs and restoration for historic and listed buildings as well as other types of project including specialist joinery manufacture.

The company turnover is listed on the website as approximately £60m and the number of employees given as approaching 220. Clients include Pfizer UK, Emirates, BAA, Virgin, Lloyds TSB Bank, the regional health authority, schools and other educational establishments.

The administrators are Matthew Vanderman and Alexander Kinninmonth of RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP in Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh in Hampshire.
