Agreement signed for Malaysia-Singapore high-speed rail

14 Dec 16 Malaysia and Singapore have signed an agreement that paves the way for tendering to begin next year for an international high-speed railway.

The 350km-long The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) rail line will have eight stations and will include a bridge across the Straits of Johor. It will cut the travel time between the two cities to just 90 minutes.

The agreement is a follow-up a memorandum of understanding signed in July (link opens in new tab).

Malaysia’s prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the signing of the agreement during the 7th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat yesterday.
