Another shave for Skanska's margins

Skanska UK saw its profits dip again last year as for the third consecutive year it managed to steadily grow revenues but just as steadily erode its profitability.

Skanska UK’s construction and development businesses recorded a consolidated operating income (profit) of £38.4m in 2015 on revenues of £1,430m. This equates to an operating margin of 2.7%, down from 3.0% last year and 3.4% in 2013.

During 2015, Skanska UK booked £1,493m of new orders.

Skanska UK president and CEO Mike Putnam said: “In a tough and extremely competitive environment, I am pleased to report a year of steady performance across the business.”
