Asbestos specialists sought for framework

8 Jul 13 Public sector procurement consortium LHC is seeking qualified asbestos specialists to tender for its new asbestos works and services (AS1) framework arrangement, initially for London.

Two contract notices have been submitted and can be found at www.lhc.gov.uk/contractnotices, where companies can download the pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ).

The first regional lot being offered covers London, but 10 further lots covering England, Wales and Scotland will be advertised in the coming months.

LHC director John Skivington said he was keen to see smaller firms come forward. “Like our customers, we’re increasingly focused on encouraging local contractors to submit a tender for local opportunities,” he said, “as we understand the benefits this brings to communities in terms of job creation, training and skills.”

The AS1 Framework is divided into three workstreams:

  • Workstream 1 - Asbestos management and supervision services, incorporating surveys and bulk sampling
  • Workstream 2 - Air sampling and monitoring services Asbestos management services (excluding supervision of projects)
  • Workstream 3 - Asbestos removal and related works (under a separate contract notice)

Interested companies should download and complete the PQQ(s) for London and return to LHC by 5pm on 7 August 2013.
