Australia shortlists international teams for $1.6bn bypass

12 Sep 14 Bouygues, Leighton and Acciona are among the bidders shortlisted for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC), a 41km bypass in Queensland, Australia.

Deputy prime minister Warren Truss said that three consortia have been selected to progress to the request for proposal stage of the AU$1.6bn (£900m) project. “These consortia were chosen following their demonstrated capacity and capability to deliver on a project of this magnitude and recent relevant experience on various infrastructure projects,” he said.

The shortlisted teams are:

  • Nexus - Plenary Group, Acciona Infrastructure Australia, Samsung C&T Corporation, Acciona Concesiones and Transfield Services (Australia)
  • RangeConnect - Leighton Contractors, Thiess, Macquarie Capital (Australia), Leighton Holdings, Leighton Contractor Investment Partners and Aberdeen Infrastructure Funds
  • RangeLink - Bouygues Construction Australia, Fulton Hogan Construction, Wagners Quarries, Meridiam RangeLink, Fulton Hogan Industries and Egis Projects Asia Pacific

The shortlisted proponents will have until early 2015 to submit their detailed proposals.This project is expected to support more than 1,800 full time equivalent jobs during the three-year construction phase, with the road expected to be operational from mid to late 2018.
