Babcock signs £2.6bn MoD deal

1 Oct 14 Babcock International has formally signed the maritime support delivery framework (MSDF) with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The MSDF confirms the continuation of Babcock’s contract to deliver construction, maintenance, engineering and other services at the Clyde and Devonport naval bases to March 2020, bringing existing contracts into a single framework.

In a statement, Babcock said: "As the UK's leading naval support business, this new contract enables Babcock to provide both continuity and development of the range of activities and services delivered to the MoD and Royal Navy.  It also allows Babcock to develop further its operations across both naval bases at Clyde and Devonport to continue to deliver savings to the MoD."

BAE Systems, which manages Portsmouth Naval Base, has been awarded a similar deal valued at £600m.
