Balfour Beatty JV picked for Sydney water framework

11 Jul 13 Balfour Beatty Leed joint venture has won a place on a major water networks framework, working for Australia’s largest water utility.

The Sydney Water framework marks Balfour Beatty’s entry into the water renewals sector in Australia and means that the Balfour Beatty Leed JV is now in line to bid for work packages worth approximately AUS$150 million (£91 million) in total over the next five years.

The Balfour Beatty Leed JV has been created to serve Sydney Water’s specific network delivery needs and will concentrate on slip lining and pipe bursting services, using a number of techniques Balfour Beatty already employs extensively in the UK

Balfour Beatty chief executive Andrew McNaughton said: “This appointment signals our commitment to the water sector in Australia. It builds on our professional services in water and provides a further example of the successful transfer of specialist infrastructure knowledge around the globe to deliver exceptional value for our clients.”

Balfour Beatty country manager for Australia-New Zealand Guy Templeton added: “Local market knowledge, the strong connection with Leed via our professional services arm, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and our international water expertise has proven to be a winning combination for our client.”
