BAM closes £142m Belgian prison deal

29 Jun 11 The Belgium Buildings Agency and BAM PPP have reached financial close on the contracts for the provision of two prisons in Beveren and Dendermonde with a joint construction value of more than €160m (£142m).

Responsibility for the construction and maintenance for the next 25 years in the hands of two Belgian BAM operating companies, Interbuild and Galère. Building work on the two projects is due to start in October 2011 and they are expected to be completed by mid-2013.

Both buildings have been designed by a joint venture of Stéphane Beel Architecten, M. & J-M. Jaspers - J. Eyers & Partners and Archivolt Architecten.
