BAM lands €150m deal for German Passivhaus hospital

15 Apr 16 A team of BAM Deutschland and Max Bögl Stiftung has been appointed to build a hospital in Frankfurt Höchst, Germany.

The value of BAM’s share of the contract is more than €150m (£115m).

The Klinikum Frankfurt Höchst has been designed by Wörner Traxler Richter Architekten in Frankfurt. It will be the first hospital to will be built in accordance with the sustainability standards of the passive house concept. The guidelines for this pilot project have been developed by the Passivhaus Institut Darmstadt together with Zentrale ErrichtungsGesellschaft (ZEG) of Frankfurt.

The six-storey building has a total gross floor area of 79,000m2.

The hospital will have 664 beds and will treat of 33,500 patients each year. It will have 10 operating rooms and a ‘hybrid’ operating room, which will have special equipment for tasks such as CT and MRI scans.

BAM expects to complete the project in early 2019.
