BAM wins €42m contract for Belgian campus

23 May 14 Royal BAM Group subsidiary Interbuild has won a €42m (£34m) contract to construct and maintain a campus for a school in Beringen, Belgium.

Interbuild will deliver the campus in 26 months and BAM Facility Management will take care of the maintenance for 30 years. The annual maintenance fee is approximately €0.6m.

Under the PPP project ‘Schools of Tomorrow’, the Flemish government is creating in total 165 new-build or renovated school projects for both elementary and secondary education. Campus Beringen is shared by five schools and will have 450 classrooms - the largest being 2,404m2 - and an extensive network of around 1,600 internet connections and 300 access points for wireless internet.

The public partner is School Invest, a co-operation between the Flemish Agency for Infrastructure in Education and ParticipatieMaatschappij Vlaanderen. The private partner is a joint venture of Real Estate and BNP Paribas Fortis.
