Barnwood wins £13m Oxford office contract

8 Feb 17 The Oxford Science Park has awarded a £13m design and build contract for a new office building to Barnwood Construction.

Barnwood has been contracted to put up a state of the art office building, capable of housing laboratories, and with roof terrace, comprising 5,713 m2 on Plot 12 of the park.

Barnwood Construction was appointed following a competitive tender process. Construction will start on 20 February 2017 with completion due in March 2018.

The client’s team includes Bogle Architects, Carter Jonas, and Horstonbridge Development Management.

Barnwood Construction managing director Simon Carey said: “We will deliver a Category A office building to the landlord’s specification and have the capability to deal with future occupiers’ Category B fit out works delivering bespoke internal configurations.”

He added: “The majority of our contracts are undertaken on a design and build basis. We pride ourselves on having a complete understanding of our clients’ needs in terms of timing and quality.”

Oxford Science Park managing director Piers Scrimshaw-Wright said: “Barnwood’s appointment is a result of their clear track record in delivering major buildings, often complex, to the high quality that is expected by the Park’s development team. The Oxford Science Park is owned and managed by Magdalen College, University of Oxford.
