The council is working with BRE on a market survey to get views on procurement from building technology manufacturers and suppliers.

The council wants to know more about what might induce companies to tender on its projects and what might put them off. It wants to understand the market barriers and opportunities faced by suppliers, including small and medium enterprises.

The survey is part of the Smart Procurement European Alliance (SPEA), a European Commission-funded project for improving access to energy efficiency technologies for retrofitting public buildings in Birmingham, Barcelona and Eindhoven. The project's overall aim is to find ways of encouraging innovative energy efficiency solutions for public buildings across the EU.

The on-line survey can be accessed here.

The survey questionnaire closes on 10 October 2013.
