Bison Manufacturing Ltd Supplies Precast Concrete Products for Extra Care Housing Scheme

14 Sep 10 Bison Manufacturing Ltd has demonstrated its market-leading service and high-quality precast concrete products on an extra care housing scheme in Yate, Bristol.

Working for main contractors, Leadbitter Group, on behalf of Housing 21, Bison supplied 3,700m2 of its 150, 200 and 250mm deep precast Hollowcore flooring to the first and second floor levels of the 60-flat development, alongside six precast stair flights.

Bison were selected as the precast concrete supplier as a result of its comprehensive range of Hollowcore depths. Integral lifting hooks cast into each Hollowcore unit were also a factor in the business securing the contract as the product could be handled and installed easily. The lifting hooks also improved health and safety on-site, minimising the need for barring of the flooring units, avoiding any damage to the quality of the products.

Robert Early, Sales Engineer for Bison Manufacturing comments:

“The project posed some challenging installation conditions following the heavy snowfall we experienced at the beginning of the year. However I’m pleased to report that everything progressed smoothly throughout the delivery to site and construction of the building structure. We’re delighted with the feedback from Leadbitter. Our capability and extensive product range were clearly demonstrated on this scheme and we feel that by being able to offer a breadth of options to our customers we are best-placed to meet their needs.”

Currently under construction, the project is due for completion in March 2011 and will provide housing and communal care for elderly residents.

Bison has subsequently won two further orders from Leadbitter for similarly sized extra care schemes in Trowbridge, Wiltshire and Woodley, near Reading.
