Tadcaster Bridge, a 300-year-old listed structure in the centre of the North Yorkshire town, is getting £3.3m to rebuild it, along with a £300,000 temproary footbridge.
Now added to this is a £5m grant for the restoration of Elland Bridge in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, as well as £500,000 for an interim footbridge. Elland Bridge is also a listed structure damaged by the recent floods.
The government says that it has invested nearly £200m in recovery from December 2015’s Storm Eva and Storm Desmond, with £50m to repair and improve flood defences since Storm Eva.
