BSRIA takes on NHBC air-leakage testing

14 Jun 13 The National House-Building Council (NHBC) has started outsourcing onsite air-leakage testing service to the Building Services Research & Information Association (BISRIA).

The NHBC said that there is no change to the service that builders receive, with NHBC continuing to provide quotes for air leakage testing. However, the onsite service is now being carried out by BSRIA on behalf of NHBC.

The air-leakage testing service is part of NHBC’s overall Part L compliance package which includes SAP and EPCs. The tie-up with BSRIA means that NHBC can now offer reduced rates on a combined energy rating and air leakage service, it said.

BSRIA has carried out 50,000 energy tests across the industry since 2006.

NHBC operation manager Richard Stockholm said: “The new partnership will result in a more cost-effective and streamlined Part L compliance solution for NHBC registered builders. A faster response time will be achieved through this new partnership, increasing capacity and resource, ultimately minimising disruption on site.”
