Carillion's £160m Durham City Riverside scheme gets planning green light

4 Nov 16 A £160m mixed-use development on Durham City's riverside has been given planning approval by the local authority.

The site was acquired by a development consortium including Carillion, Arlington Real Estate and Richardson Capital earlier this year..

The project involves the demolition of the former Milburngate House and the development of more than 400 new homes, a boutique cinema, bars, restaurants, retail space and offices.

Neil McMillan, of Arlington Real Estate, said: “The proposed development will enhance the vitality and viability of the city, providing those who live, work and visit with more choice, and continue to elevate Durham City’s position alongside peer cites around the country and across Europe.”

Carillion previously delivered the Freeman’s Reach development in Durham.
