The new C Series mini excavators are the first products resulting from the Case New Holland’s strategic alliance with Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea, announced in September 2016.

The 5.7- and 6.0-tonne models (CX57C and CX60C) are produced by Hyundai and the four smaller models (CX17C to CX37C) are supplied by Hyundai in the form of complete knock down (CKD) kits for assembly by Case in Italy

New features include an improved display, Engine Start Limitation (ESL) anti-theft system, hydraulic quick coupler for fast attachment changes, and electric refuel pump.

According to Case, the CX57 and CX60 have “the best instrument cluster on the market” with a multi-colour, 5.7-inch LCD touchscreen. The hands-free system with USB and AUX ports, SD card reader and 12V power outlet make it easy to integrate most modern mobile devices.

Case product marketing manager for mini excavators Gaston Le Chevalier de la Sauzaye said: “The mini excavator is an essential product line for construction businesses: they account for the biggest industry volumes by far at 53,000 units for Europe – and the market size is increasing each year. With the new C Series range, we deliver what our customers tell us they need most from this product line for their business: outstanding productivity, comfort and safety.”

CNH also has an OEM agreement with Sumitomo of Japan. Sumitomo has supplied CNH Industrial’s Case and New Holland network with excavators ranging from 7 to 80 tonnes since 1992. The deal was recently extended for CNH to manufacture Sumitomo-designed crawler excavators ranging from 13 to 35 tonnes. However, CNH’s alliance with Kobelco ended in 2013.
