Co-op HQ project passes million hour milestone

19 Dec 11 The new Co-operative Group headquarters under construction in Manchester has passed the one million man-hours mark.

The £100m development is 70 weeks into its construction programme and on course for completion by August 2012

More than 4,000 workers will be involved in the construction of the 16 storey head office. More than 50% of the work force comes from the Greater Manchester area, it is claimed.

Salford-based main contractor BAM has placed orders with more than 100 firms within the Greater Manchester area, including groundworks from Stockport contractor Adana, fill materials from Manchester-based Chartrange , brickwork from McCrory’s of Cheadle, and the concrete frame from Warrington’s PC Harrington.
