Consulting engineer staffs up

17 Dec 13 WSP has made a number of senior appointments across its UK offices and business disciplines in anticipation of an increased workload in 2014.

Simon Candlin joins WSP’s building services business in Bristol as associate director. He joins from Buro Happold, where he specialised in the delivery of museum and heritage projects, including the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi.

Stuart Craig joins WSP’s Basingstoke office from Jacobs UK as associate director for highways. Projects he has managed include the £44.5m Wolvercote Viaduct Replacement and the £13m Stratford town centre improvement in preparation for the London Olympics.

Xiao Mei joins WSP’s building structures business in London from RBG as associate director.

Steve Bosworth joins from Hyder as technical lead of WSP’s electrification & plant (E&P) team, based in its new Rail Systems Design Centre in Swindon. He said: “I was impressed by the standard of work WSP had already achieved within the rail sector and the number of major projects WSP were tendering and winning. I joined WSP because I could see the passion & drive that was present to establish a dedicated E&P presence”.
