Delicate lifting job at University of Surrey

3 Sep 13 Locally-based contractor Beard called on City Lifting of Essex to lift in M&E plant that could not fit through the front door on a refurbishment job in Guildford.

Beard is carrying out a £1.68m refurbishment of the Joseph Kenyon Laboratory on the third floor of the AZ Building at the University of Surrey and a £740,000 programme of upgrades to the building’s heating and lighting systems.

To place a new air-handling unit and chiller onto the roof of the building, along with a steel-framed plant enclosure, City Lifting brought along its 200-tonne capacity Tadano ATF 220G5 all terrain crane, working with 68m of main boom.

“This is our third contract with the University of Surrey and I’m pleased to report that once again the refurbishment work is progressing well and to schedule,” said Beard project manager Iain Dandy.
