The Cheneys, which includes 25 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments in a three-storey building, is next to the head office of Sussex Housing & Care, which is the client for the scheme. This building will also be refurbished as part of the contract.
The apartments, which replace a former nursing home, are designed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The building will be of traditional construction with a zinc roof, brick facades and composite timber and aluminium clad windows.
Work at Sussex Housing & Care’s headquarters will involve demolishing and rebuilding part of the building to improve facilities, including a new kitchen, bathrooms, meeting rooms and offices. The building’s exterior will also be refurbished.
