Doosan joins HSBC, Mercedes-Benz, Nikon and Rolex as an Official Patron of The Open in a bid to enhance its brand image.
Doosan Corp COO Geewon Park said, “We’re very proud to be once again sponsoring The Open Championship and we are honoured to be able to attach the Doosan name to such a prestigious and world famous event.”
Doosan has also donated an excavator to event organiser The Royal & Ancient (R&A)
R&A director Michael Tate said that the excavator was “being put to great use in installing the fibre optic cables that take The Open Championship’s images to 190 countries around the world”.
At last year’s championship Doosan donated a DX55W excavator that is used to maintain all of The Open Championship’s courses including Royal St. George’s.
