Dragados gets £500m Bank station upgrade

4 Jul 13 Spanish contractor Dragados has seen off competition from an Anglo-French Costain/Vinci joint venture to redevelop Bank station for London Underground.

The £500m project will increase capacity at the interchange of Bank and Monument stations, where six tube lines intersect.

It will take until 2021 to complete the project.

The Bank station capacity upgrade project sees Londone Underground’s first use of the ‘innovative contractor engagement’ (ICE) procurement process, which is designed to get the benefits of early contractor involvement.

The aim is to start work on site in 2015.

Two other shortlisted bidders, BFK (BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial SA & Kier) and MBA (Morgan Sindall, Balfour Beatty & Alpine Bemo Tunnelling) had already been eliminated.
