The project involves converting a derelict seven-storey government office block, Quest House, into 33 flats and building a new concrete-frame block alongside it to provide a further 40 flats.

Quest House is on Cross Road, near East Croydon station. It used to house a division of the old Property Services Agency (PSA) that was transferred to Tarmac in the 1990s.

The residential conversion scheme has been designed by Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects. The existing building will be overclad with stone cladding. All the flats will have private amenity space provided as either a garden terrace, balcony or roof terrace.

The new-build element of the proposed development will be designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) Level 4. The refurbishment part is designed to achieve BREEAM domestic refurbishment target rating of ‘Very Good’.

The project is expected to take 20 months to complete.
