Engineer picked for Australia’s biggest solar project

18 Nov 13 Aurecon has been appointed as the owner’s engineer for the Royalla 20MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project, which will be built in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

“The solar industry in Australia is expanding on the back of reduced equipment prices over the last few years and Australia’s good solar resources,” said Aurecon energy associate Peter Ward.

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) was the first applicant to be successful in a large-scale solar auction process run by the ACT government. Under the process the project will receive a feed-in tariff (FiT) for the electricity generated over the life of the project.

“Aurecon is proud to be appointed on this flagship project. We will work closely with FRV, as well as the project engineer and contractor Acciona Energy Oceania, to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget and meets the expected level of reliability for long-term operation,” he said.

Ehen completed in June 2014, Royalla will be the largest solar PV project in Australia.
