Ferrovial JV wins Riyadh road contract

19 Jun 14 A consortium including Ferrovial Agroman has been awarded a €145m (£116m) contract to build a new access road to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 10km segment will be built by Ferrovial Agroman in a 50:50 consortium with local company Al Fahd Contracting. The contract for the ArRiyadh Development Authority (ADA) involves building section 2 of the new access road to Riyadh by upgrading Abi Bakr As Siddiq road to international motorway standards.

Ferrovial Agroman CEO Alejandro de la Joya said: “This is Ferrovial’s first contract in Saudi Arabia, and it will enable us to demonstrate our extensive experience in highly complex technical projects in a country with ambitious infrastructure investment plans to support economic development”.

The contract is part of the local authorities’ investment programme to change the city’s image and transform urban mobility. The project includes the construction of three interchanges using viaducts with spans of up to 80 metres. The entire route will be equipped with traffic control systems.
