Finnforest meets the needs of a younger audience

30 Nov 10 Finnforest’s low-slip deck board, WalkSure has provided a safe, yet attractive colour alternative to traditional timber decking for AquaGem, an Essex-based professional swim school for babies, toddlers and after school classes.

Installed outside the indoor pool area, child-friendly WalkSure combines EPDM rubber with pressure treated softwood in a single deck board.  The outcome is a safe low slip surface in both wet and dry conditions; the product is independently tested to BS 7976 part 2 to conform to UK slip resistance guidelines. What’s more, in comparison to other low slip products on the market, WalkSure is less abrasive to children if they were to fall, making it the perfect choice for high traffic areas such as schools, playgrounds, public areas, pool surrounds, clubhouses and leisure complexes.

The precision finished deck board is manufactured using only the highest quality joinery grade timber.  It also boasts a number of other features such as reducing noise levels, ideal when children are playing and running. It is kiln dried in order to reduce moisture and resin content, increasing durability and making the timber more stable. The product is also manufactured from environmentally sound timber that is sourced from certified forests.  For that extra peace of mind, the deck board also comes with a 15-year guarantee.

Gemma Sinclair owner of AquaGem comments, “We were looking for a product that was not only pleasing in appearance, but with children often running across the surface, safety was high on the agenda.  Finnforest’s WalkSure provided the perfect solution to meet our exacting needs. The installation proved to be an easy process.  In addition, its ease of maintenance fits perfectly with my busy schedule.”

WalkSure, which is one of a range of six different deck board choices available, also boasts DeckMark Plus certification, which gives specifiers peace of mind that these products meet the formal performance guidance for the slip resistance rating of deckboard surfaces.

All of Finnforest’s decking products are made to exacting quality standards. The timber used in the manufacturing of WalkSure is sourced from well-managed forests and is independently certified by the PEFC to meet environmental standards.

WalkSure’s versatility makes it the ideal low slip floor covering for a great number of applications across a broad variety of sectors. For example, retail, hospitality, leisure, education and industrial in both public and private projects.  Most recently, Finnforest’s WalkSure has also been installed at the new multi-million pound Wyre Forest Visitor and Discovery Centre in Bewdley, as well as across a number of public areas at Edinburgh Zoo. It is also currently being installed at one of the UK's largest retail shopping centres.
