Fleet expansion for Jewson

7 Dec 10 Builders’ merchant Jewson has ordered 55 new vehicles for its delivery fleet " a mix of 18- and 26-tonners " for operations nationwide.

The MAN trucks will be fitted with Danish-made HMF knuckle-boom loader cranes by new HMF dealer Bevan. The radio-controlled HMF 1420-K2 cranes are in the 14tm class and fitted with Kinshofer brick and block grabs.

Jewson has specified the latest version of HMF’s Electronic Vehicle Stability (EVS) system, which calculates the extra stability generate by the load on the back of the truck and so maximises lifting capacity. It also ensures all stabilisers are correctly deployed for safety.

Jewson fleet director Ian Berrill said: “The 1420-K2 looks to be strong and well finished, while its impressive 8.3m reach and EVS safety system make it ideally-suited to the job.”
