Steve Davies, who worked for Balfour Beatty for 14 years, has joined Seddon at its Birmingham office and will be responsible for the company’s commercial contracts across the Midlands region.

Mr Davies brings with him 40 years of experience in construction, having started his career with John Laing, working his way up to managing director of Mansell and subsequently Balfour Beatty Regional.

Mr Davies said: “I am delighted to have found a home at Seddon. The company has a great reputation and even though it is a national construction firm, Seddon has committed further resources to the Midlands, most recently when it purchased an office in Birmingham.

“Seddon is dedicated to creating a lasting legacy in the region with its training and development initiatives – something that is very close to my heart.”

Steve Davies is the vice chair of the Local Employment & Skills Board in Solihull, a position he has held since 2013.

Mr Davies added: “As part of my role I want to increase the number of Seddon’s framework appointments in the Midlands, building long-lasting relationships with companies across the region. I have no doubt that Seddon can fill the void left by regional contractors that have been absorbed by bigger firms, building on its family heritage and credentials for delivering high-quality projects on time and on budget.”

Davies’ appointment comes shortly after the company purchased a 4,000 sq ft office at Birmingham Business Park.

Seddon has two offices in the Midlands, Stoke and Birmingham, with staff working on almost £60m of projects. Davies will be working alongside Eamonn Burns, who was appointed last year as a regional director for the Midlands, responsible for both offices.

Seddon has also appointed a new regional director for its social housing division in the northwest, Duncan Williams, based at the Bolton headquarters. Seddon has already secured £31m of social housing contracts in the northwest this year and the new regional director plans expansion in North Wales.
