Freedom at last for Vinci and Areva hostages

30 Oct 13 Four hostages working for Vinci and Areva have been released after being held hostage in Niger for three years.

The three employees of Vinci subsidiary Sogea Satom and one from energy company Areva were taken hostage during the night of 15 to 16 September 2010.

"It is with an immense joy that we learned of the release of our employees Thierry Dol, Pierre Legrand and Marc Feret and of Daniel Larribe, an employee of Areva," said Xavier Huillard, chairman-chief executive officer of Vinci. "It comes as a huge relief to their families and friends and to all those who have worked or hoped for their return after such a long period of captivity."

The fourth hostage was Areva’s Daniel Larribe. Luc Oursel, president and CEO of Areva, said: “This liberation is an immense joy for the families and for all the employees of Areva. These men have shown extraordinary courage. I would like to very warmly thank all of those who have contributed to their liberation.”
