Galliford Try lands £82m haul

26 Jun 14 Four contract awards worth a total of £82m have been picked up by Galliford Try’s building business.

In Scotland, the Morrison Construction operation has reached financial close on the £26.4m project to design and construct the new Clyde Valley schools campus in Wishaw. Client is Hub South West Scotland, the public/private development company working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council. This project involves the construction of a replacement secondary school for Clyde Valley High and a replacement primary school for both the existing Overtown and Castlehill primaries. Morrison will also build a new nursery school and new sports pitches. The new Clyde Valley campus, to be completed in August 2016, will cater for more than 1,000 pupils from three to 18 years old.

Secondly, the Brewery Square Development Company has appointed Galliford Try to complete the next phase of the Brewery Square regeneration project in Dorchester. The £27m contract will see the construction of a further 15 shops and 134 apartments and penthouses on the 11.5-acre town-centre site.

Thirdly, Galliford Try has been appointed to a £16m contract by Brookgate Developments to build a six-storey 230-bedroom Ibis hotel in Cambridge on a Network Rail-owned site next to the train station. This is scheduled to be completed early in 2016.

Finally, the contractor has been appointed by Vesta PC to deliver a £13.5m commercial office development in central London at 48-49 Pall Mall. The project includes retaining and protecting the existing façade of Number 49 while creating 4,129m2 of office space.
