Galliford Try wins Hull schools

30 Jun 14 Galliford Try has been selected for the £35.7m Hull and East Riding first batch of schools under the priority schools building programme.

This is Galliford Try's first success since its appointment to the Education Funding Agency's main contractor framework in November 2013.

The Hull and East Riding batch includes the £18.6m construction of Hessle High School and Sixth Form College, as well as new buildings for Eastfield, Francis Askew, Wold and Ainthorpe primary schools in the region.

Work on the new Hessle High School will start in October. The school currently sits on two separate sites. It will be redeveloped on a single site at Heads Lane, Hessle, home of the current Upper School. The project is expected to be completed in early 2016.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted to have secured our first success since our appointment to the EFA's main contractor framework last year. Education remains a key sector for our construction business and we look forward to working with the EFA and the schools in the Hull and East Riding batch to produce the high quality buildings and facilities their pupils deserve."
