GB Building Solutions awarded sports hall project for ACS International Schools

24 Oct 11 GB Building Solutions has just been awarded a £3.4m contract for the construction of a new sports hall and refurbishment of an existing gymnasium in Egham, Surrey. The contract was awarded by ACS International Schools.

The new facility is located within the grounds of ACS Egham International School and will provide a range of facilities including two courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton, a climbing wall, a dance studio, a fitness suite and additional teaching space for pupils ranging between the ages of two and 18.

Martin Smout, chairman and chief executive of GB Building Solutions says, “We will use our extensive experience of constructing school sports halls and leisure centres to ensure that Egham has a state-of-the-art new sports facility which ACS International Schools can be proud of and which will provide the pupils with a wide range of recreational activities.”

The ACS International Schools project will add to GB's growing portfolio of sports halls in the education sector.  GB has extensive experience of constructing sports halls and leisure centres with the most recently completed project being a world class extreme sports facility in Hemel Hempstead which houses the largest indoor wood and concrete skate park in the UK.

ACS International Schools educate over 2,800 students from 70 countries. As well as their new school recently opened in Doha they have three campuses based in Surrey and West London.  ACS Egham is one of only a handful of schools in the UK fully authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. The IB Programme is globally recognised and students who study the IB Diploma can gain entrance to universities worldwide.
