The new facility is located within the grounds of ACS Egham International School and will provide a range of facilities including two courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton, a climbing wall, a dance studio, a fitness suite and additional teaching space for pupils ranging between the ages of two and 18.
Martin Smout, chairman and chief executive of GB Building Solutions says, “We will use our extensive experience of constructing school sports halls and leisure centres to ensure that Egham has a state-of-the-art new sports facility which ACS International Schools can be proud of and which will provide the pupils with a wide range of recreational activities.”
The ACS International Schools project will add to GB's growing portfolio of sports halls in the education sector. GB has extensive experience of constructing sports halls and leisure centres with the most recently completed project being a world class extreme sports facility in Hemel Hempstead which houses the largest indoor wood and concrete skate park in the UK.
ACS International Schools educate over 2,800 students from 70 countries. As well as their new school recently opened in Doha they have three campuses based in Surrey and West London. ACS Egham is one of only a handful of schools in the UK fully authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. The IB Programme is globally recognised and students who study the IB Diploma can gain entrance to universities worldwide.
Ball Hall Limited is project managing the scheme on behalf of ACS. It was launched expressly to make indoor sports facilities throughout the UK more accessible, available and affordable.
Jeremy Lewis, head of school for ACS Egham International School says, “The building of our new sports facility here at ACS Egham will allow us to provide a much wider physical education and co-curricular programme for our students. With their extensive experience of building within an educational environment, GB Building Solutions has proved to be an effective and responsible partner on this project and we look forward to working with them over the coming year.”
Works are due for completion in August 2012.
