This is the third contract awarded to GB by Signature following projects in Coombe and Marlow.
The new three- and four-storey development will have 87 private apartments in a mix of studios and one-bedroom suites, with 24 specifically for dementia care. Communal facilities will include a restaurant, hair salon, lounges, entertainment rooms and a bistro. It is anticipated that the new home will open to residents in autumn 2014.
GB Group chairman and chief executive Martin Smout said: “This is the sixth care facility we have been awarded in the last 12 months and the third for Signature Senior Lifestyle. This appointment reinforces the fact that GB is now recognised as one of the UK's leading specialist contractors in the care sector. Our extensive knowledge of the very specific needs of this sector in catering for some of the UK's most vulnerable people and our in-depth understanding of how care facilities operate enables us to provide tailored solutions for every care operator we work with, whether they want a niche building or something more standard."
Signature plans to build a further 11 new care homes in London and the Home Counties over the next four years, with a planned spend of more than £250m.
