16 Jan 14 East Midlands local authority purchasing consortium Scape has awarded a £100m framework deal to local contractors GF Tomlinson and Jeakins Weir.

Scape’s East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) intermediate contract runs for four years from January 2014 and is for intermediate contracts valued between £50,000 and £2m.

GF Tomlinson’s contract covers the northern area of the region, including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.  This share of the contract has a total value of £68m.

Jeakins Weir’s contract covers the southern area of the region, including Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, as well as Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull and Peterborough, which also form part of the framework.  This share of the contract has a total value of £32m.

GF Tomlinson managing director Stuart Lawrence said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this empa framework contract, which is thanks to a lot of hard work by the team here at GF Tomlinson. Scape’s frameworks are continuing to provide more and more public sector clients with construction works which save them time and money and we’re delighted to be part of this going forward.”

Jeakins Weir managing director Alistair Weir said: “The empa frameworks provide a boost for the construction industry and the wider local economy, while also ensuring public sector bodies can use their resources wisely to receive the best possible value for money.”

Head of empa Alan Coole said: “Both GF Tomlinson and Jeakins Weir put forward excellent submissions and I would like to congratulate them on successfully securing this particular framework.”
