Green light for £2.5bn Indian rail project

8 Dec 16 India’s National Capital Region Transport Corporation has approved plans for a 92km rail corridor involving a capital investment of Rs219bn (£2.5bn).

Some 60km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail corridor route will be on viaducts and there will be about 30km of tunnels.

The project is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to 48 minutes for express trains and 60 minutes for normal trains.
