Green light for Sunshine Coast airport expansion

19 May 16 Construction of the AU$347m (£174m) expansion of Sunshine Coast Airport in Queensland, Australia, has moved closer with the approval of the project’s environmental impact statement (EIS).

Minister for state development Anthony Lynham has released the state coordinator general’s report. The project includes delivering a new 2450m by 45m runway as well as runway-end taxiway loops, an expanded apron and terminal facilities, a new air traffic control tower and associated infrastructure.

The Commonwealth government will now review the coordinator general’s report. Further specific project approvals will also be required before works can begin.
