Harmer from Alumasc - the very best in floor drainage solutions

24 Oct 11 The latest range of Harmer aluminium floor drains from Alumasc, represents the very best in modern drainage solutions, offering reduced material and labour costs at every stage of the build programme.

From specification through to installation, usage and maintenance, the benefits of Harmer floor drains are clear - just two body types and three interchangeable styles of grating meet the needs of almost every imaginable floor drainage application, negating the need for over a hundred alternative components.

Simplicity of design has resulted in a versatile product range which is straightforward to order and widely available from stock via a network of local distributors - enabling specifiers and contractors to rapidly identify and deliver the ideal solution for their project.

Simplicity, however, has not resulted in lack of choice. Harmer floor drains come with a range of elegant grates and bezels in stainless steel and nickel bronze, with attractive finishes to suit virtually any interior floor finish. Gratings are compatible with all types of flooring including tile, flexible sheet, screed or resin. For even greater flexibility, trapped and untrapped drain bodies are available for vertical or horizontal pipe connections, and also with optional side inlets.

Harmer floor drain gratings also offer another major advantage to contractors in the form of a trap which is incorporated into the grate, not in the drain body. In suspended floor construction, this innovative feature may be used to completely cancel out the need for a drain body,  and when used with Harmer SML cast iron pipe, significantly contributes to improved fire safety, providing one of the most efficient and cost effective solutions on the market today.

The inherent strength and unique flexibility of Harmer floor drains, pays dividends for contractors at installation stage. The robust units are precision cast in aluminium silicon alloy LM6 to BSEN 1559:1997 and are finished in a BBA Approved powder coating to withstand the rigours of a site environment such as handling, storage and installation processes.

The range has been designed with the needs of fast track building projects in mind, where installation speed is paramount. On all models, the grate, bezel and throat are installed as a single unit into the insitu drain body, offering direct connection to the drainage system via a 110mm spigot outlet. All grating assemblies are adjustable with a sliding throat system that permits vertical, horizontal and rotational adjustment to the finest tolerances – allowing the drain to be installed according to screed and insulation thicknesses within the floor.

In use, Harmer floor drains surpass the brand’s reputation for durability and longevity of performance. Their high quality engineering pays off in a high flow rate that meets and often exceeds current British Standards. The drains are corrosion resistant, and the smooth finishes are both tough and hygienic.

For end users, the drains could not be easier to maintain. The foul air traps are self-cleaning and the gratings are easy to unscrew for routine access and maintenance.

To further support the benefits offered by the Harmer product range, Alumasc is also renowned for its technical expertise, with the provision of unrivalled support, available at every stage of your project.
