Heijmans picked for Utrecht housing scheme

24 May 17 Heijmans has won a tender to develop and build 125 homes in Leidsche Rijn Centrum district of Utrecht in the Netherlands.

The homes will be built for the municipality of Utrecht next to the district’s central shopping area. The total project is valued at over €40m (£34.5m).

Heijmans said that it was awarded the contract on the basis of the high quality and sustainability of its plan, which involves building the homes in a semi-enclosed block. The project features a combination of sustainability measures, including PV cells on the roof and the façade.

Construction will begin in mid-2018, following the development phase, with completion planned for approximately two years after that.
