PROJECT: The construction of both tournament and training grounds as well as the Emirates Palace Hotel pitch.
EQUIPMENT: A combination of dumpers and excavators
"We have complete trust in Hewden, having worked with the company for ten years. No matter if it’s a hire request for Kent or Kilcardy, we get the same response - what, where and when?"
Hewden has supplied equipment to White Horse Contractors, a design and construction company of natural and artificial sports turf facilities, for the FIFA Club World Cup.
A combination of dumpers and excavators were hired for the construction of both tournament and training grounds as well as the Emirates Palace Hotel pitch, Abu Dhabi’s first combined rugby and football stadium.
The equipment was on hire for a five-month period, throughout which work was scheduled to tight deadlines helping to ensure that the pitches were in peak condition ready for both the tournament and the Abu Dhabi football season.
Departing from Hewden’s Oxford depot, the Hewden team had just 48-hours from receiving the order to loading the equipment and additional parts on to the articulated transport lorry.
Commenting on White Horse Contractors relationship with Hewden, Plant Manager, Phillip Matchwick from White Horse Contractors said: "We have complete trust in Hewden, having worked with the company for ten years. No matter if it’s a hire request for Kent or Kilcardy, we get the same response - what, where and when?
The Abu Dhabi hire is a perfect example of Hewden service at its best. We requested the dumpers and excavators on the Thursday, ready to ship to Abu Dhabi on the following Monday, just 48 hours later. They were delivered on time and serviced, with the correct oils, spare parts and all necessary paperwork.
As a quality specialist contractor working with major UK companies, health and safety is paramount to White Horse Contractors. The quality of the machines and certification supplied by Hewden is excellent, which allows us to comply with the ever increasing health and safety regulations and codes of practice found on today’s construction projects, wherever they may be in the world."
