Hong Kong seeks use for surplus construction materials

3 Sep 14 Hong Kong’s Housing Authority is launching an online information platform to help in the recycling of construction and demolition (C&D) waste.

The authority is seeking to minimise the amount of waste generated during public housing construction by increasing the recovery rate and hence lessening the burden on landfills.

Its information platform will consolidating data on the recyclable materials being generated by the superstructure works of all its public housing construction sites.

The online system will include information such as site locations, contact details and forecasts of the types and quantities of non-inert recyclables available. It will be updated every month.

“It is hoped that through wider dissemination of information in the recycling industry, we can facilitate a larger scale of C&D waste recovery in Hong Kong,” said the Housing Authority.
